William of PNZY, May 20, 2008 to November 12, 2010

Good night my sweet William! You were such a good little man! Always so exuberant and exited about life. You will be missed!

William was from LMR and part of an SPCA rescue group of rats that forever became known as the Adriana litter, after the mom's name. They were all very special rats with great personalities. Thank you LMR for taking the litter from the SPCA and allowing me to adopt William and his brothers!

William was a very active male rat who loved his wheel. When his hind end degeneration became too great for him to run, he would climb into the wheel and just sit there. Towards the end of his life, William needed a lot of help with his grooming and also needed his teeth trimmed. He took his daily baths and weekly tooth trimming sessions with grace, after a good fight of course! William never lost his spunk until the very end.

Play hard at the bridge little man! I miss you and l love you!

Fall for Rats show, Hillsboro Oregon.

On November 6, me and 7 ratties attended the Fall for Rats show in Hillsboro, Or. Lizzy picked me up on her way from New Westminster, BC and together we picked up Robbi and her rats in Tacoma. We had a very full vehicle by that time but thanks to Robbi's amazing packing skills we managed to make everything fit.

We stayed in hotel rooms provided by Kimber, complete with snacks for us and fresh veggies for the ratties. Thanks Kimber! The ratties even had bigger cages to transfer into and bedding was provided too.

The show was awesome! There was lots of people and the media was there too. Kimber did a great job of organizing the show and getting the word out. There was even a coloring book for the kids written by Kimber and illustrated by Kelsey. There was lots of venders there too. I had fun just walking around looking at all the stuff available.

I showed 3 kittens, Lizzy, Russet and Hashbrown, and 4 adults, Kay, Pocky, Charybdis, and Victoria in the standards classes. Casper was there in spirit. His recent neuter had gotten infected so he couldn't attend. Kay took his place in the best rescue story.

Lizzy took Reserve Best In Show marked kitten, Russet took Best in Section unmarked kitten, Casper took best rescue story. Charybdis took Prettiest Rat. Here are some pics of the winners with their ribbons:

EAGLE's Luscious Baby Harry 5-22-08 to 10-17-10

Also known as Baby Lush, Harry was my biggest, squishiest, most laid back rat. He was my ratty ambassador, thrilling new people with his size and calm, kissy demeanor. Harry started off as a wee little ratty, the smallest ratty in the cage. He grew to be the biggest, weighing in at almost 2 pounds. Harry tied for best costume at Ratarama 09. He was dressed as an angel. He leaves behind 2 cage mates and a mamma who misses him terribly.

Two events to talk about!

Two rat related events happened in September. The first was Rat Camp over Labor
Day weekend. What a blast! Thank you LeAnn and Beth for hosting it this year! It was so fun to hang out with old friends and talk about all sorts of things but especially rats! There was a wine and cheese tasting Friday night, followed by some hot tub time. Saturday we played rat themed games such as Rat Toss (tossing ping pong balls into an igloo) and Rat scavenger hunt. Lunch was pulled pork and it was awesome! That evening we had MargarRata night, while playing rationary, followed by more hot tubbing. Sunday we nursed our hang overs and watched girl flicks.

The next event, Fall Show, was 3 weeks later and was a fun time also. Rat shows are always a lot of fun! Charybdis took Best in Section, and Milly got 'Most Amazing Rescue' along with Lady, my new Nampa rescue girlie. I also picked up DMTN Lizzy from Morgan at Dream Mountain Rattery. Lizzy is a Black European Roan dumbo kitten, and along with Russet who I will be picking up at the Portland show, the lynchpin to my breeding plans next year.

FURR Ickis 5-5-09 to 9/2/10

A beautiful beige ratty, Ickis was a friendly, sweet gentleman. Adopted from Denise of FURR rattery he was extremely social from day one, preferring to hang out with me more than anything else. He also loved to explore the rat room and to vex the boys in the other cage.  He had one great adventure when he went with me to the show in Boise last June. BooBoo, his brother and lifelong cagemate, misses him terribly and so do I. Ickis, rest well buddy. You will be missed.

Welcome SITH/JOY Victoria, JOY Charybdis, and Milly!

My 3 does arrived on the 11th of August, 2010. They are beautiful! Milly is very small and very shy. She is a beige capped from Little Mischief Rescue. She was weaned from her mother at 3 weeks because her mother was pregnant with back-to-back litters. (Does can get pregnant again within 24 hours after giving birth.) The normal time to wean is 5 weeks. Milly is coming along though and is turning into a mischievous little girl! She loves to play hide and seek.
SITH/JOY Victoria, Vicky for short, also loves to play hide and seek and hand wrestle. She's a dumbo black American Irish and the oldest and friendliest baby. She loves climbing on the sides of her cage for belly tickles through the bars.
JOY Charybdis, Carrie for short, is a total ham in front of the camera. She's a curly dumbo blue agouti collared. Her personality is beginning to emerge and become more and more outgoing as she gets used to her new home.

New Cage Came Today!

Yeay! My new Martin's 695 came via Fed Ex today. I bought it for the three new girls I'm getting next week: Joy Charybdis, Sith/Joy Victoria, and Milly from Little Mischief Rescue. Another cage to clean, but these girls are all super cute and worth the work! It's been too long since I've had baby does in the house!
